Dubai Customs confirms its support to national human resources

During the inauguration of Careers Day at the Higher College of Technology

Dubai- Dubai Customs confirmed its support to national citizens, both graduates and undergraduates, by vowing to offer career opportunities for the distinguished to develop a career with Dubai Customs. In addition, Dubai Customs will offer significant training courses in order to enhance their competencies and further their skills.

On an annual basis The Careers Day is organized by the Higher College of Technology and for the third consecutive year is sponsored by Dubai Customs.

After inaugurating the events of the Careers Day 2009, Mr. Butti Abdulla Al Jumairy, Executive Director of HR, Finance and Admin Division at Dubai Customs said:" Giving attention to the UAE national citizen and achieving the sustainable social development are considered among the corporate values of the Department. From this springboard the Department is keen on participating in the career fairs that take place within the UAE throughout the year. These events which give HR recruiters and job seekers the chance to meet allow students who seek to find jobs to submit their CVs in person and get evaluated from the specialized personnel at the different sectors in the Department.” He also pointed out that Dubai Customs is considered among the most prominent government organizations which support nationalization in the UAE with 80% rate of national employees.

Several government, semi-government and private organizations took part in the Exhibition held on this day. Through their pavilions, these organizations and companies demonstrated the employment opportunities available to which students and graduates can apply.

It’s worth noting, Dubai Customs has sponsored the Careers Day since it commenced three years ago. First, in Nov 2007 then again in Nov 2008 and this year for the third time, all exhibitions were of great success as they were well-received by Emirati graduates who were recruited in different companies and organizations in Dubai.

The Careers Day aims at introducing the UAE national distinguished students to various job vacancies available in different local and international companies and organizations. It also gives students insight into the available career opportunities in the local business market. In addition, students will receive some guidance which will help them choose the career paths which best suit their potentials and ambitions.

Mr. Al Jumairi said:” We strive to provide more support to the UAE youth by helping them find their future career paths and provide them with the most suitable jobs for their qualifications. Taking part in and sponsoring such CSR events by Dubai Customs is a form of giving back to the society which provides us with much support.”

Exhibit setup
Exhibitors are invited to have a look at the stands near the DMC cafeteria. Please come in anytime between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm Sunday or Monday. Secure storage is available for gift bags or other items on Sunday and Monday.
Exhibits may be installed on Monday 9th November from 10 am to 7 pm.

Event Timings
Official Opening and ribbon cutting at 11:00
Stand operations from 11:00 to 5:00

Exhibit Removal
Exhibits may be removed on Tuesday 10th November from 5 pm to midnight

The Helpdesk is located at the cafeteria entrance for any assistance. Please see floor plan

Parking
Enter by the main gate – Security personnel will direct you to the Hangar area to the right. Please park in designated spaces and leave the handicapped places free for those who need them. Any cars that are not properly parked may be ticketed.

DMC hosts Career Day and exhibition of short listed entries for Ibda'a Awards

Dubai Media City, a member of TECOM Investments, opened on 25th December an exhibition displaying 41 short listed entries from the UAE, Iran, Egypt, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UK and Lebanon, for the Ibda'a Media Student Awards 2007.

The exhibition, which is being held at the Dubai Media City amphitheatre, will run until 29 December.

Winners of the Ibda'a awards will be honored at a gala ceremony on Thursday, 27 December at the Dubai Media City amphitheatre.

For the first time, Dubai Media City is also hosting a Career Day today to complement the Ibda'a awards. The job fair is drawing media students keen to shape a career in the industry.

On site guidance is being provided to students by representatives from leading media organizations in the country such as Taj TV, Star Middle East, Al Aan TV, CNBC, Ziad Galadari Group, TECOM, Freej, ITP, du and Radisson SAS, who are also using the platform of the Career Day to recruit outstanding talent.
